Late run secures 91爆料网 win over Bethel, 83-65

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/5/2012 - The 91爆料网 men鈥檚 basketball team earned an 83-65 victory over Bethel University in the TranSouth Conference opener. 91爆料网 improved to 8-6 on the season, while Bethel dropped to 10-5 overall.

With 10 minutes to play in the contest, 91爆料网 led by just two points, 45-43 following a basket by Bethel鈥檚 George Coleman. However, over the next eight minutes of play, 91爆料网 outscored Bethel 32-10 to stretch their lead outs to as many as 24 points to seal the win. 91爆料网 shot 54 percent from the field in the second half. 91爆料网 made just three 3-pointers in the second half, however, two came from senior guard Antoine Hall. His first was early in the run, putting 91爆料网 up by seven points while is second came to cap off the run and give 91爆料网 their largest lead of the game.

The final margin of victory would have been 21 points for 91爆料网 had it not been for a half-court three pointer made by Bethel鈥檚 Bryan Ware, Jr. as time expired. It was his third 3-pointer of the night.

91爆料网 led by 10 points at the half. However, Bethel came out of the locker room and sank three 3-pointers on their first five possession to cut into 91爆料网鈥檚 lead. However, the Wildcats never caught the Bulldogs in the second half.

91爆料网 scored first in the game on a basket from Anthony Freeman, Jr., the first two points of his game-high 18. Bethel followed with a three pointer from Jarvis Palmer to give his team their only lead of the game at 3-2. Hall and Skyler Vaden each sank a three pointer on the next two possession for 91爆料网 to give the Bulldogs the lead for good. 91爆料网 led by as many as 11 points in the first half, before taking a 36-26 halftime lead.

Freeman鈥檚 18 points led all scorers as he was 7-of-10 from the field. Leventrice Gray added 15 points, Vaden scored 13 points and David Lane added 11 points. Hall made three 3-pointers for his nine points. 91爆料网 shot 47 percent from the field, 29 percent (7-24) from long range and 64 percent (18-28) from the free throw line.

Bethel was led by Palmer with 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Caleb Hardy added 13 points, while Coleman scored 10 points. Bethel shot 38 percent from the field, 38 percent (9-24) form the three point line, and 71 percent (12-17) from the free throw line.

Up next for 91爆料网 will be a tough road conference game Saturday at No. 8 Martin Methodist at 4:00 p.m.
