91±¬ÁÏÍø women No. 2 in first poll of 2012

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 1/10/2012 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø women’s basketball team remains the No. 2 ranked team in the latest NAIA DI Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top-25 Poll. This is the fourth poll of the season and 91±¬ÁÏÍø has maintained the No. 2 ranking in each poll.

91±¬ÁÏÍø is coming off a 3-0 week, including a win over then No. 19 Bethel (Tenn.) and Martin Methodist, who is receiving votes in the latest poll. 91±¬ÁÏÍø is 15-1 on the season and is 8-1 versus teams currently ranked or receiving votes in the latest poll. 91±¬ÁÏÍø is also 3-1 against teams currently ranked in the top-10. 91±¬ÁÏÍø only loss was to No. 1 Oklahoma City.

91±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s defense has been a key factor in their early success this season. In their 16 total games, no opponent has reached the 70-point mark in a game. The highest point total allowed by 91±¬ÁÏÍø was 69 points to Oklahoma City. 91±¬ÁÏÍø ranks No. 9 in the NAIA, allowing 53.1 points per game. 91±¬ÁÏÍø also ranks No. 3 in the NAIA in 3-point percentage (.375), No. 4 in field goal percentage (.465), No. 4 in 3-pointers made (127), and No. 6 in scoring margin (19.3).

91±¬ÁÏÍø has a tough week ahead as the Lady Bulldogs host No. 25 Lyon (Ark.) Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. and then travel to No. 3 Freed-Hardeman Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
