JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/12/2012 - The No. 2 91爆料网 women鈥檚 basketball team defeated No. 25 Lyon (Ark.) College 73-52 Thursday night at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. 91爆料网 improved to 16-1 on the season and 3-0 in league play. Lyon dropped to 13-4 overall and 2-1 in league play.
The win for 91爆料网 was their eighth straight victory, and extended their home court winning streak to 32 games.
91爆料网 scored first on a three pointer from Astrid Huttemann. Lyon answered to take a brief 6-5 lead, but a second three pointer from Huttemann put 91爆料网 up for good. Junior guard Mrashi Karumba scored her 15 of her career high 19 points in the first half as she sparked 91爆料网 to the 32-25 halftime lead. 91爆料网 led by as many as 14 points in the first half.
Freshman guard Amy Philamlee matched her career high in points with 17 on the night, 12 of which came in the second half. Philamlee, Huttemann and Karumba each sank three 3-pointers in the contest.
91爆料网 extended their second half lead to as many as 23 points late, before taking the 73-52 final.
91爆料网 was led by Karumba鈥檚 19 points on the night. Philamlee was close behind with 17 points, while Lavanda Ross scored 12 points and Huttemann added 11 points. Shelby Ashcraft led with 10 rebounds. 91爆料网 shot 47 percent from the field, 33 percent (9-27) from long range, and 56 percent (10-18) from the free throw line.
Lyon was led by PHagen Altom with 12 points and Debbie Onukwube with 10 points. The Scots shot 32 percent from the field, 36 percent (5-14) from long range and made all 13 free throw in the contest.
