BATESVILLE, Ark. - 2/9/2012 - The No. 3 91爆料网 women鈥檚 basketball team posted a 67-39 win at No. 25 Lyon College Thursday. 91爆料网 improved to 23-2 on the season and 10-1 in the TranSouth. Lyon dropped to 18-7 overall and 7-4 in league play.
The 39 points allowed by 91爆料网 was the second lowest points total allowed on the season (32 vs. Rust, Nov. 29). 91爆料网鈥檚 defense has been key all season for the Lady Bulldogs as 91爆料网 has not allowed a team to reach 70 points. The highest total allowed to this point is 69 twice (Oklahoma City, Nov. 29; Martin Methodist, Feb. 4). 91爆料网 ranks No. 9 in the NAIA with 53 points allowed per game.
91爆料网 jumped out to a 31-15 halftime lead, including 12 points from senior All-American Lavanda Ross in the first 20 minutes.
91爆料网 forced 21 Lyon turnovers and outrebounded the Scots 33-26. The shooting percentages were similar in the game for both teams, however, 91爆料网 was able to attempt 58 shots compared to just 39 for Lyon.
91爆料网 was led by Ross with 22 points. Shelby Ashcraft added 20 points while Amy Philamlee scored 10 points. 91爆料网 shot 45 percent from the field, 40 percent (6-15) from behind the arc, and 75 percent (9-12) from the free throw line.
Lyon was led by Lauren Ramsey with 21 points. The Scots shot 44 percent from the field, 50 percent (4-9) from long range, and 17 percent (1-6) from the free throw line.
Up next for 91爆料网 will be a home game, Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2:00 p.m. versus No. 2 Freed-Hardeman. 91爆料网 and Freed-Hardeman are both tied at the top of the TranSouth standings with one loss each.
