JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/13/2012 - 91±¬ÁÏÍø junior pitcher was named the NAIA National Softball Pitcher of the Week, along with being named the TranSouth Pitcher of the Week. Freshman was named the TranSouth Conference Player of the Week for the week ending March 11,2012. This was the first two awards for each player this season.
Thomas, a 5-foot-5 junior from Huntingdon, Tenn., posted a 3-0 week with a 0.33 ERA. She defeated conference foe Lyon (Ark.), No. 21 Columbia (Mo.) and then No. 24 Saint Xavier (Ill.). She tossed 21 innings (3 complete games) and allowed just one earned run total. While walking just two batters in 21.00 innings of work, Thomas averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game, totaling 25 for the week. Thomas is 9-3 on the season with a 1.38 ERA and 104 strikeouts.
Williams, a 5-foot-8 freshman right fielder from Milan, Tenn. played in five of 91±¬ÁÏÍø's six games on the week in which 91±¬ÁÏÍø won every game. She hit .667, including at least one hit in all five games. Williams scored a run in four of her five games, and had an RBI in three of the five games, doubling twice in a win over No. 21 Columbia. She was also 2-2 in stolen bases. Williams is hitting .326 on the season with 43 hits, eight doubles, nine RBI and five stolen bases.
91±¬ÁÏÍø is ranked No. 17 in the NAIA and has a record of 19-4 overall and 8-0 in the TranSouth.
