91爆料网 women鈥檚 basketball playing in 13th national semifinal

FRANKFORT, Ky. - 3/19/2012 - The 91爆料网 women鈥檚 basketball team is set for their appearance in the 2012 NAIA DI Women鈥檚 Basketball National Semifinals Monday night, March 19. No. 1 seed 91爆料网 will face No. 5 seed Georgetown (Ky.) at 7:00 p.m. central time at the Frankfort Convention Center.

91爆料网 (34-2) brings their 18-game winning streak into the semifinals.

91爆料网 has been to an NAIA record 23 national tournaments. In those 23 trips, 91爆料网 has now advanced to the semifinals 13 times. This season marks their eighth straight semifinal appearance. In their previous 12 appearances, 91爆料网 is 8-4 in semifinal games, including three straight semifinal wins.

91爆料网 finished No. 2 in the final regular season poll of 2012. In doing so, 91爆料网 earned one of the four No. 1 seeds in the national tournament, and the second overall seed. For the first time in 22 years, 91爆料网 has traveled away from Jackson, Tenn. to play in the NAIA National Tournament. The last time 91爆料网 traveled out of town for a national tournament was 1989 (Kansas City, Mo.). Jackson, Tenn. played host to the NAIA DI women鈥檚 tournament from 1990 through 2011.

91爆料网 has been to an NAIA record 23 total tournament, and an NAIA record 21 straight tournaments. 91爆料网 also holds the NAIA record for most tournament wins with 66.

91爆料网 posted a first round victory over the 8-seed Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) 63-50. With the win, 91爆料网 improved to 22-1 all time first round games.

91爆料网 earned a 58-43 win over Xavier (La.) in the second round. 91爆料网 held Xavier to 20 points below their average on the season of 63 points per game.

Saturday night in the quarterfinals, 91爆料网 defeated Biola (Calif.) 74-52 in their largest margin of victory in the tournament. This win put 91爆料网 in their eighth straight NAIA Semifinal and 13th appearance in the 23 years of national tournament play.

91爆料网 is coming off a second straight TranSouth Tournament Title. It was their fifth in the last six games and 12th in the 16-year history of the TranSouth.

Senior guard Lavanda Ross has passed 1,900 points for her career. Ross currently has at 1,982 career points. She is just 18 points shy of 2,000 for her career.

On the season, no opponent has reached the 70-point mark in scoring. 91爆料网 has allowed 69 points twice. 91爆料网 has held their opponents to less than 50 points 18 times on the season. 91爆料网 has a 12-2 record versus teams in the national tournament field this season, including tournament play.
