KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 3/21/2012 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø softball team jumped six spots to No. 11 in the latest NAIA Softball Rankings. 91±¬ÁÏÍø started the season at No. 17 in the preseason polls.
91±¬ÁÏÍø is 24-5 on the season. This is the best start to a season for 91±¬ÁÏÍø softball since the 2005 season. 91±¬ÁÏÍø started that season 26-5, going on to finish the year 45-16-1. That 2005 season was also the last season for 91±¬ÁÏÍø softball to participate in the NAIA National Tournament.
Last week, 91±¬ÁÏÍø defeated then No. 6 Belhaven (Miss.) 7-6 and topped then No. 22 Mobile (Ala.) 5-1. On the season, 91±¬ÁÏÍø is 6-5 versus teams ranked or receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll. Of 91±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s five losses, two have come to top-10 teams, No. 6 Central Baptist (Ark.) and No. 7 William Carey (Miss.).
91±¬ÁÏÍø is 10-0 in the TranSouth Conference to this point in the season. 91±¬ÁÏÍø closes out the month of March with six conference games. 91±¬ÁÏÍø hosts Bethel Monday, March 26 at 4:00 p.m. and then travels to Trevecca Nazarene and Cumberland, Friday and Saturday, March 30-31.
