PULASKI, Tenn. - 3/23/2012 - The No. 14 91±¬ÁÏÍø held on for a key TranSouth Conference road victory in a 6-4 win at Martin Methodist College. 91±¬ÁÏÍø improved to 16-8-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the TranSouth. Martin Methodist dropped to 19-14 on the season and 3-4 in league play.
91±¬ÁÏÍø jumped out early with two runs in the top of the first. A two-out, two-run home run by Kian Jost scored Clint Barnes, who walked to lead off the inning. 91±¬ÁÏÍø added a third run in the third inning on an RBI single from Danny Grimm, driving in Will Irvin who led off with a single. 91±¬ÁÏÍø went up 4-0 after a sacrifice fly in the fifth from Jost. 91±¬ÁÏÍø led 6-1 going into the bottom of the eighth inning. However, three unearned runs in the bottom of the eight by Martin Methodist made the game interesting going into the ninth. Irvin (3-2) allowed four runs, just one earned, and 10 hits over 8.2 innings. Cody Dew (4) entered the game in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and two runners on base and retired the final out to earn his fourth save of the year.
Brett Pawlan and Cole McAdams led with two hits each. Jost led with three RBI, while Grimm tallied two RBI.
The same two teams will play a double-header at noon on Saturday in Pulaski,
