91爆料网 puts three on Capital One Academic All-District baseball/softball teams

JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/4/2012 - The Baseball and Softball teams have been released. 91爆料网 had three players to earn the votes of district CoSIDA members. Danny Grimm was selected to the District-4 College Division baseball team, while softball players Katie Beth Fesmire and Stephanie Saunders where named to the district softball team.

Grimm, a senior shortstop and former University School of Jackson standout, just helped lead 91爆料网 to their second straight TranSouth Tournament title. Grimm has won three tournament titles in four seasons at 91爆料网 and as helped his team advance to four straight NAIA National Championships Opening Round. He has been a four-year starter and was recently named first team all-conference and a Rawlings Gold Glove winner for the second straight season.

Fesmire, a sophomore catcher and also a former USJ standout, helped her team to their seventh TranSouth Regular Season Title and first since 2004. The softball team is currently participating in the conference tournament as the top-seed.

Saunders, a junior first baseman from Ashland City, was recently named first team all-conference for the second straight season. Her play at the plate and in the field is a key factor in 91爆料网鈥檚 return to the top of the softball conference.

The 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation鈥檚 top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One became the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA鈥檚 Academic All-America庐 teams programs in 2011.

The Academic All-District teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the first year of the expanded Academic All-America庐 program as CoSIDA moves from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and doubles the number of scholar-athletes honored. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America庐 Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. For baseball and softball, only First Team All-District teams were selected, so each member listed above continues on to the national ballot.

The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America庐 program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2011-12 DII and DIII Academic All-America庐 teams program.
