Jackson, Tenn. - 9/22/2003 - of 91±¬ÁÏÍø has been named the NAIA National Player of the Week. Also this week, Wandera received the TranSouth Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Wandera, a junior from Kenya, helped 91±¬ÁÏÍø to a 3-0 week with victories over Mid-Continent, Christian Brothers, and Lambuth. 91±¬ÁÏÍø is 15-3 overall and 1-0 in the TranSouth.
Wandera, a transfer from Lee College in Texas, joined 91±¬ÁÏÍø this fall and has made an immediate impact. On the season, she leads the team with 263 kills for a 4.6 kills per game average. Wandera also leads 91±¬ÁÏÍø with 36 service aces and 76 blocks.
For the week, she averaged 4.62 kills, 3.00 digs and 1.38 blocks per game. While playing just two games in 91±¬ÁÏÍø's victory at Lambuth, Wandera tallied 10 kills, four digs, three service aces and a block while hitting .353 in the match. The next time out, she hit a whopping .667 on the strength of 17 kills and just one attacking error in 24 swings to help 91±¬ÁÏÍø top Christian Brothers. She also had six digs, seven blocks and a service ace in the match. The Lady Bulldogs finished an unbeaten week with a three-game win over Mid-Continent. In that match, Wandera had 10 kills without an error in 18 attack attempts, to go with 14 digs, three blocks and five service aces.
