91爆料网's Women Win First TranSouth Cross Country Championship

Louisville, Ky. - 11/8/2003 - The 91爆料网 Cross Country teams made a strong showing in the TranSouth Conference/NAIA Region XI meet on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs, behind strong efforts from Janelle Royer and Jill Konkol, capture 91爆料网's first ever Cross Country conference championship. The Bulldogs finished second in the TranSouth Conference for the second time in their three year history.

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs continuted to set new records as four runners will represent 91爆料网 in the NAIA Cross Country Nationals. 91爆料网's Royer and Konkol for the women and Cameron Groll and Chris Winter for the men are NAIA National Cross Country Individual Qualifiers. This marks the first time 91爆料网 has ever had four national individual quailifers in the same season. For Royer, this is her second straight NAIA National Meet appearance. 91爆料网 has had just one in each of the past two seasons (Michelle Hardee, 2001; Janelle Royer, 2002).

In the NAIA Region XI standings, the and the .

Jackson native Janelle Royer and 91爆料网 City native Jill Konkol finished 1st and 2nd in the TranSouth standings and 4th and 5th in the NAIA Region XI standings. These two runners have led 91爆料网 all season. In addition to the NAIA National Qualifications, Royer was named the TranSouth Conference Runner of the Year and Konkol was named the TranSouth Conference Freshman Runner of the Year. Both Royer and Konkol were named to the NAIA Region XI first team. Also for 91爆料网 Ruth Schroeder and Kate Graham were named to the TranSouth All conference first team. Gary Johnson was named the TranSouth Conference Coach of the Year.

On the men's side, in only their third year of competion, the Bulldogs finished second for the second time. 91爆料网's Cameron Groll and Chris Winter finished 7th and 8th respectively in the TranSouth and 12th and 13th respectively in the NAIA Region XI standings. In addition to being NAIA Nation Qualifiers, both Groll and Winter were named TranSouth First Team All-Conference and second team All-Region XI. Gary Johnson was named the TranSouth Conference Coach of the Year.
