91±¬ÁÏÍø Cross Country Sends Four Runners to NAIA Nationals

Jackson, Tenn. - 11/11/2003 - For the first time in the short history of 91±¬ÁÏÍø Cross Country, four runners will represent 91±¬ÁÏÍø as NAIA National Qualifiers. Lady Bulldogs Janelle Royer and Jill Konkol join Bulldog runners Chris Winter and Cameron Groll as the four national qualifiers. 91±¬ÁÏÍø has had one national qualifier in each of the previous two seasons (Michelle Hardee-2001, Janelle Royer-2002). The 2003 NAIA Cross Country National Championship will be held in Louisville, Ky. on November 22.

, a native of Jackson, has earned her second career NAIA National Qualifier honor. Royer, now a junior, has led this you group of runners for the entire season. She finished first overall in the TranSouth Conference meet and fourth in the NAIA XI meet by completing the 5K run in 19:40.49. For her efforts, Royer was named the TranSouth Conference Runner of the Year, along with first team All-Conference and first team All-Region.

, freshman standout runner from 91±¬ÁÏÍø City, Tennessee, didnt take long to make her impact known, not only among the Lady Bulldogs, but across the TranSouth Conference. Konkol finished the 5K run in 19:41.34, just behind her teammate Royer. Konkol finished second overall in the TranSouth and fifth overall among NAIA Region XI runners. She was named the TranSouth Conference Freshman Runner of the Year, along with first team All-Conference and first team All-Region honors.

, a junior from Jackson, earns his first NAIA National Qualifier honor. Winter has been a major impact in leading this since the team started during his freshman season. He finished seventh overall in the TranSouth and 12th overall among the NAIA Region XI runners by completing the 8K run in 27:38.23. He was named first team All-Conference and second team All-Region. This is the third All-Conference honor in his three years at 91±¬ÁÏÍø.

, from Lexington, Tennessee and junior runner for the Bulldogs, also earned his first NAIA National Quailifer honor. He finished 8th overall in the TranSouth results and 13th overall among NAIA Region XI runners. Groll was named first team All-Conference and second-team All-Region.
