OLATHE, Kan. - 12/11/2003 - Two 91±¬ÁÏÍø standout volleyball players were honored on Thursday with . Gladys Wandera was named NAIA First Team All-American, while teammate Phylis Anyango was named an NAIA honorable mentioned All-American. The two helped lead 91±¬ÁÏÍø to the semifinals in the NAIA Region XI Tournament, a runner-up finished in both the TranSouth Conference regular season and tournament, and also the NCCAA National Championship. 91±¬ÁÏÍø finished the season 41-9.
, a 6-foot-2 middle hitter from Kakamega, Kenya, received the TranSouth Player of the Year honor, as well as, the NAIA Region XI Player of the Year honor. She was named as the conference player of the week five times, region player of the week three times, and NAIA National player of the Week twice during the season. Wandera, a junior for the Lady Bulldogs, led 91±¬ÁÏÍø in kills (905), kills per game (5.69), and attack percentage (.518). In the TranSouth, she ranks first in attack percentage while ranking second in kills and kills per game.
, also junior from Kenya, adds this honor to her First Team All-Conference and All-Region honors. She ranks second on 91±¬ÁÏÍø's team in kills (523), kills per game (3.51), and attack percentage (.424). She ranks second in the TranSouth, just behind teammate Wandera, in attack percentage.
