JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/2/2004 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø baseball team earn a very impressive victory over the No. 6 ranked team in NCAA Div. II baseball, Delta State University. The Bulldogs pounded the Delta State Statesmen 18-4 on Tuesday for their fifth win in a row and their 12 in their last 14 games. 91±¬ÁÏÍø improves to 12-4 on the season while Delta State falls to 11-4.
91±¬ÁÏÍø freshman Clint Arthur (3-2) pitched a complete game for his third win of the season allowing nine hits and four runs, three of which were earned. He struck out three batters and walked just one over the seven innings. Senior Bulldog Joel Hysmith, a native of Jackson, went 4-for-4 on the day to lead 91±¬ÁÏÍø. Jason Johnson, the junior outfielder from Munford tallied four hits in five at bats with two RBI. Johnson has already accomplished such feats this season with a his first career cycle and a walk-off grand slam to beat NAIA No. 10 Missouri Baptist last Saturday. Chris Wright, a transfer from Delta State, helped do in his old team by driving in three runs. Every starter for the Bulldogs tallied at least one hit on the day. Delta State used six pitchers in the game.
The Bulldogs tallied their season high 18 runs on 19 hits and two Delta State errors. Delta State scored four runs on nine hits and two 91±¬ÁÏÍø errors.
