91±¬ÁÏÍø Women Top Lambuth by 20, Men Fall in Final Seconds

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/25/2005 - The No. 2 ranked 91±¬ÁÏÍø Lady Bulldogs (19-1) used a strong second half to pull away from Lambuth (8-11) 71-51. The men's game however, was much closer as Lambuth University (11-7) topped the 91±¬ÁÏÍø Bulldogs (12-7) 77-76 on a last second shot to win the game.

In the women's game, 91±¬ÁÏÍø led 34-25 at the half, but used a 13-3 run to start the second half to help pull away. Freshman guard Merideth Richardson led 91±¬ÁÏÍø with 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from behind the arc. Stephanie Clark talled 19 points and nine rebounds while Crystal Eason tallied 10 points. Five different Lady Bulldogs made at least one three pointer as 91±¬ÁÏÍø shot .410 (11-27) from behind the arc. 91±¬ÁÏÍø also made 14-of-14 free throws on the night. Lambuth was led by Kelly Logsdon with 11 points and Crystal Burton with 10 points.

The men's game was close for the entire game. The biggest lead for either team was six points. 91±¬ÁÏÍø trailed 41-40 at haltime after a back and forth first half. The second half was much of the same. Lambuth then took a six point lead inside the two minute mark with what looked to be the dagger on a three pointer by Adam Simpson. 91±¬ÁÏÍø then pulled to within three points on a three point play by Bruno Martinessi. After a missed shot by Lambuth, 91±¬ÁÏÍø tied the game on a three point basket by Marcus Cooper. Lambuth tallied one of two free throws to take a 75-74 lead and 91±¬ÁÏÍø had the ball with under 30 second remaining. Cooper was fouled by Lambuth and send to the line with 6 seconds left. Cooper made both free throws to put 91±¬ÁÏÍø up by one at 76-75. Then the heroics happened again for Lambuth as Darryl Vinson took the ball the at half court and drove to within 15 feet and made a fall away jumper to win the game.

91±¬ÁÏÍø was led by Bruno Martinessi with 21 points. Pierry Valmera added 15, Marcus Cooper scored 13, and Ben Frederick added 11 points. Lambuth was led by Chris Cole with 26 points. Darryl Vinson added 21 points and Adam Simpson scored 17 points.
