Jackson, Tenn. - 4/2/2002 - 91±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s Leah Gronberg has been named the TranSouth Conference softball Pitcher of the Week. This is the second time in three weeks that she has nabbed this honor. Gronberg helped to lead 91±¬ÁÏÍø with two wins last week over NAIA World Series opponent, Athens State. In her outing, she pitched seven innings of shutout ball, allowing only two hits and striking out six.
A sophomore from College Station, Texas, Gronberg has started this season off with a bang. On the season, she is 10-1 with a 0.97 ERA. She has struck-out 87 batters in 79.0 innings pitched, and has walked just 10 batters. Gronberg ranks second in the TranSouth in wins (10), ERA (0.97), strikeouts (87), and complete games (11). Gronberg is also contributing at the plate. She is second on the team with a .348 batting average and she leads the Lady Bulldogs with 14 RBI.
The Lady Bulldogs are currently 20-3 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. The Lady Bulldogs will host two tough conference games this week as they host Freed-Hardeman today at 4:00 p.m. and Trevecca Nazarene on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
