JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/7/2006 - The fourth ranked team in NCAA Div. II used a four-run 10th inning to top the host 91±¬ÁÏÍø Bulldogs at 91±¬ÁÏÍø's Fesmire Field on Tuesday. Delta State won the game 7-3 (10) after 91±¬ÁÏÍø led 3-2 going into the eighth inning. 91±¬ÁÏÍø fell to 11-7 and lost just for the second time in their past 11 games.
91±¬ÁÏÍø trailed 2-0 after allowing a solo home run by Delta State's Derek Norris in the second and another tallied in the fifth. However, in the bottom of the fifth, 91±¬ÁÏÍø got on the board with an RBI single by James Brasfield. Then in the bottom of the sixth, 91±¬ÁÏÍø tied the game with a solo home run by Jud Powers and then took the lead as Zach Lowery scored on an error. Delta State tied the game with an RBI single by Chris Weast to score Goodwin who reached on a double.
In the 10th, 91±¬ÁÏÍø gave up four unearned runs to seal their fate. 91±¬ÁÏÍø went quietly in the bottom of the 10th.
Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be a home game on Friday, March 10 as they host Lambuth University at 6:30 pm. This is the second meeting of the year for 91±¬ÁÏÍø as the Bulldogs took the earlier contest 3-2.
