JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/17/2006 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø softball team split their double-header on the road at Mid-Continent University (Ky.) on Monday afternoon, losing the first game 4-2 and winning the second game 15-4. In the second game, 91±¬ÁÏÍø set one new school team record and had three indivuduals tie records on the 91±¬ÁÏÍø and NAIA levels.
In the Holly Haycraft career steals watch, the senior centerfielder from Dyersburg tied the NAIA career record with her 169 career stolen base. Her next steal will make her the NAIA's all-time leader.
In the 15-4 91±¬ÁÏÍø win in game two, the Lady Bulldogs smacked four homeruns as a team, which broke the old record of three homeruns set back in 1995.
Kristen Kolter and Amy Chatham also pounded their way into the 91±¬ÁÏÍø record books. Each smacked two homeruns apiece in the secong game to tie the 91±¬ÁÏÍø record for individual homeruns in a game held by two other players from 1995 and 2001.
Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be a key TranSouth matchup with league leading Martin Methodist on Tuesday night, April 18 at 91±¬ÁÏÍø's Fesmire Field. NAIA No. 20 Martin Methodist has a conference record of 10-4, while 91±¬ÁÏÍø is 5-3. Not only will Haycraft look to become the NAIA's all-time career steals leader, but the Lady Bulldogs will look stay in the conference race for the regular season title.
