JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/14/2006 - 91±¬ÁÏÍø placed five players on the TranSouth All-Conference teams during the conference tournament last weekend. Amanda Hutchison and Monica Schrimer were named first team players, while Purity Ogolla, Elena Villagomez, and Edith Mendoza were named honorable mentioned All-Conference.
, a 5-foot-9 sophomore from Jackson, led 91±¬ÁÏÍø with 490 kills and a 0.454 hitting percentage. She also led 91±¬ÁÏÍø with 202 blocks. For Hutchison, this is her second All-Conference honor as she was named All-Conference, Freshman of the Year, All-Region, and All-American as a last season as a freshman.
, a 5-foot-11 senior from Long Beach, California, earns her second such honor. She was second on the team this season with 487 kills and 77 aces.
, a 5-foot-9 senior setter from Kenya, led 91±¬ÁÏÍø with 1383 assists and received an All-Conference honor for the second straight season.
, a 5-foot-9 senor from Cutler, California, has been named to the All-Conference team for the first time in her 91±¬ÁÏÍø career. She tallied 354 kills and was third on the team with 74 aces.
, a 6-foot senior from Porterville, California, posted a team high 85 aces. She was second on the team with 129 blocks and posted 300 kills. This is Mendoza’s second TranSouth All-Conference Honor in two seasons.
In addition to the All-Conference team, six Lady Bulldogs were named TranSouth Scholar Athletes. Schrimer, Hutchison, and Ogolla joined , , and as scholar athletes.
After earning a four seed in the conference tournament, 91±¬ÁÏÍø posted a third place finish which helped the Lady Bulldogs earn a spot in the NAIA Region XI Tournament this weekend in Lebanon, Tenn. 91±¬ÁÏÍø opens the single elimination tournament with a 5:00 pm match versus Freed-Hardeman University on Friday, November 17.
