No. 5 91爆料网 Men Top No. 15 Houston Baptist; No. 1 Ladies Win

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/25/2006 - The 91爆料网 men, ranked No. 5 in the NAIA, used a big first half to pull away and defeat No. 15 Houston Baptist University (Texas) 84-65. In the women's game, No. 1 91爆料网 defeated Harris-Stowe State University (Mo.) 91-81.

In the men's game, 91爆料网 (5-2) posted 49 first half points to lead by 21 points at halftime over Houston Baptist (3-2). Pierry Valmera, who finished with 23 points, scored 14 points in the first half to lead all the Bulldogs. 91爆料网 shot 43-percent from the field and just 27-percent (7-26) from behind the arc. 91爆料网 however, won the rebound battle 51-36, inlcluding 22-12 on the offensive boards.

Valmera's 23-point game-high was the only 91爆料网 player to score in double figures. However, nine of the 10 91爆料网 players scored in the game. Mack Bealim added a game-high 11 rebounds.

The top ranked 91爆料网 Lady Bulldogs (7-1) had to work for the entire game before taking the 10-point win. Harris-Stowe (2-7) came to play as the Hornets shot 48-percent from the field includng and amazing 50-percent (10-20) from behind the arc. The three point shooting kept Harris-Stowe in the game as 91爆料网 posted 51-percent shooting from the field. However, 91爆料网's three point percentage was just 26-percent (5-19).

91爆料网 was led by Josephine Owino and Natanya Smith with 17 points each. D.J. Sissoko and Kaitlin Dudley added 15 points each, while Jessica Graves scored 12 points. Sissoko also added 10 rebounds.

Harris-Stowe was led by Laniya Stevens with a game-high 22 points. Kanisha Pettis added 19 points including 5-of-10 from behind the arc. Chanel Ross added 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Both 91爆料网 teams will be off until the weekend when the fifth ranked 91爆料网 men will host No. 4 Mountain State on December 2 at 4:00 pm at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. The No. 1 ranked Lady Bulldogs will travel to Chicago to play No. 17 St. Xavier on December 2, and then Robert Morris on December 4.
