91±¬ÁÏÍø Basketball Teams Climb in Latest NAIA Rankings

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/24/2007 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø men’s and women’s basketball teams found themselves moving back up in the latest NAIA National Rankings released on Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs’ time out of the Top-10 ten was short lived as 91±¬ÁÏÍø jumped four spots to No. 8. On the men’s side, 91±¬ÁÏÍø climbed one spot to No. 11.

The 91±¬ÁÏÍø Lady Bulldogs have won five games in a row and are now in a five-way tie for first place in the TranSouth Conference standings. 91±¬ÁÏÍø is in the midst of a stretch of five games in which their opponents are either ranked or receiving votes in the latest polls. 91±¬ÁÏÍø won the first game of that stretch by defeating Freed-Hardeman 84-74 last Saturday at 91±¬ÁÏÍø. The 91±¬ÁÏÍø Ladies face cross-town rival and renewed conference foe on Thursday night who is receiving votes at No. 28 in the polls. 91±¬ÁÏÍø will then face RV No. 32 Martin Methodist, No. 12 Cumberland, followed by No. 9 Trevecca Nazarene, with the each of the last three at home.

On the men’s side, 91±¬ÁÏÍø saw two winning streaks snapped on Monday night in West Virginia. 91±¬ÁÏÍø lost for the first time in five games overall and also for the first time in four games to NAIA power No. 5 Mountain State. 91±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s five-game winning streak matched their season high. Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be a match at Lambuth University on Thursday night at 8:00 pm. 91±¬ÁÏÍø and Lambuth are cross-town rivals but this meeting will mean so much more as the two teams are both ranked among the top teams in the NAIA. Also, to add even more flavor to this game is the fact that Lambuth has re-joined 91±¬ÁÏÍø in the same conference and both teams are currently tie for first place with 6-1 records.
