JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/27/2007 - The 91爆料网 Lady Bulldogs defeated Martin Methodist College (Tenn.) 74-58 on Saturday to post their seventh straight win. With the win, No. 8 91爆料网 improved to 16-4 on the season and 7-2 in league play. Martin Methodist dropped to 15-6 overall and 5-4 in league play.
The women鈥檚 game started slow as neither team scored for almost three minutes of play. Martin Methodist鈥檚 Shontel Johnson finally broke the drought with a basket at the 17:18 mark to give the RedHawks a 2-0 lead. However, 91爆料网 started to heat up as they posted a 26-14 run over the next 10 minutes of play to take a 26-14 lead. A very game RedHawk team however, rallied back and cut the 91爆料网 lead to four points with just over five minutes left in the half. But it was 91爆料网 who scored 11 of the final 14 points of the half to take a 38-26 halftime lead.
In the second half, 91爆料网 continued the hot shooting as the Lady Bulldogs pulled out to their biggest lead of 29 points, 74-45 with 3:27 left in the game. A late surge by Martin Methodist saw the RedHawks score the game鈥檚 final 13 points and they hold 91爆料网 scoreless over the final 3:27 of the game. However, 91爆料网 had already done the damage as the Lady Bulldogs came away with a 74-58 win to maintain a share of the TranSouth lead.
91爆料网 was led by Kaitlin Dudley with 18 points. Natanya Smith added 15 points and 11 rebounds in the game. Josephine Owino scored 12 points and Crystal Eason added 11 points. 91爆料网 again shot well from the three point line, making 7-of-15 (47-percent).
Martin Methodist was led by Shontel Johnson with 15 points. Whitney Robinson added 14 points, while Diane Frost scored 12 points for the RedHawks.
Up next for 91爆料网 will be a home game versus No. 12 Cumberland University (Tenn.) on Thursday, February 1 at 6:00 pm.
