91爆料网 Men Drop First Game at Home this Season

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/27/2007 - The 91爆料网 men鈥檚 team lost their first home game of the season, falling 80-69 to Martin Methodist. The Bulldogs are now 13-7 overall and 6-3 in the TranSouth. Martin Methodist moved to 12-9 on the season and 6-3 in league play.

91爆料网 had their 11-game home winning streak snapped, dating back to February 11, 2006 as the day of their last home loss.

Unlike the women鈥檚 game, both men鈥檚 teams came out hot as the teams continued to swap baskets in the early going. Martin Methodist moved out to a six-point lead at 14-8 at the 16:46 mark. 91爆料网 then answered with a 22-10 run to take their biggest lead of the first half, 30-24 at the 8:29 mark. The RedHawks rallied back and took a brief 34-33 lead, but 91爆料网 bounced back to take a 38-36 halftime lead.

The second half started much the same as the first with both teams making shots. Over the first 14 minutes of the second half, the game produced eight lead changes and four ties. However, with 6:37 left in the game, Martin Methodist took a 61-60 lead on a three pointer by Chris Murdock. The Redhawks would not trail again as they pushed their lead quickly to 10 points thanks to a 13-4 run over the next four minutes. 91爆料网鈥檚 shots stopped falling as the RedHawks came away with the 11-point, 80-69 win.

91爆料网 boasted five players with double figures in the loss. Tony Brown led the way with a game-high 22 points. Brian Lake added 10 points and 14 rebounds and four blocks in the game. Mack Bealim, Ben Frederick, and Pierry Valmera scored 10 points each for 91爆料网. 91爆料网 shot 43-percent from the field, including 31-percent (8-26) from behind the arc. However, 91爆料网 managed just five trips to the free throw line, making only one for 20-percent.

Martin Methodist was led also with five players in double figures. Chauncy Shelton led with 20 points. Everett Bills added 14 points, Chris Murdock scored 13 points, while Jacob McKissack and Krik Newnham added 12 points each. The RedHawks shot 48-percent from the field and an amazing 57-percent (12-21) from behind the arc. Martin Methodist also made 12-of-15 from the free throw line (80-percent).

91爆料网 will be off until next Thursday for some much needed rest. The Bulldogs have played six games over the past 12 days. 91爆料网 will host Cumberland University (Tenn.) next on Thursday, February 1 at 8:00 pm.
