JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/20/2007 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø baseball team defeated Williams Baptist College (Ark.) on Tuesday 8-1. With the win, 91±¬ÁÏÍø improved to 16-8 on the season, while Williams Baptist dropped to 7-12 overall.
91±¬ÁÏÍø scored first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning on back-to-back RBI singles by Shaun Cozart and Joe Robinson.
Williams Baptist posted their only tally of the day on a solo homerun by Todd Rayburn in the top of the third inning.
91±¬ÁÏÍø added a run in the fifth, four more in the sixth, and a final tally in the seventh inning to secure the win.
91±¬ÁÏÍø's Josh Holman improved to 3-2 with the win. Holman tossed eight innings of ball, allowing just three hits and the one run with seven strikeouts. Judson Powers tossed a perfect ninth inning, inlcuding two strikeouts.
Daniel Cagle took the loss for Williams Baptist as he allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits in five innings.
For 91±¬ÁÏÍø, Powers, Cozart, and Allen Williams each posted two hits in the game. Williams led the team with two RBI as seven different players for 91±¬ÁÏÍø recorded an RBI.
Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be a trip to St. Louis to play Missouri Baptist University on Wednesday at 3:00 pm. 91±¬ÁÏÍø will then host No. 4 Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) on Friday and Saturday for a three-game TranSouth Conference series.
