JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/2/2007 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø Bulldogs stayed alive in the 2007 TranSouth Conference Baseball Tournament with a 3-0 win over Freed-Hardeman University. 91±¬ÁÏÍø improved to 33-17 on the season, while Freed-Hardeman dropped to 29-26.
91±¬ÁÏÍø was led by the former Humboldt duo of Judson Powers and James Brasfield. Both Powers and Brasfield are juniors at 91±¬ÁÏÍø, after having played togther at Humboldt High School. Powers led 91±¬ÁÏÍø offensively as his 3-run homer to the deepest part of 91±¬ÁÏÍø's Fesmire Field, a 420-foot shot, gave the Bulldogs their only three runs. However, that would be plenty as Brasfield scattered seven hits over his complete game shutout to improved to 6-3 on the season.
Powers was 3-for-5 in the game with three RBI's. Munford native Zach Lowery was 3-of-4 on the day for 91±¬ÁÏÍø.
Freed-Hardeman was led by Jarrett Jones with two hits. Tyler Franklin went the distance in the loss, allowing 10 hits and three runs, two of which were earned.
91±¬ÁÏÍø advances to day three of the tournament when they face the loser of the Lyon/Crichton game at 3:30 pm on Thursday.
