JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/14/2007 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø volleyball team has signed of Mississauga, Ontario to a volleyball scholarship. Martins will enter 91±¬ÁÏÍø this fall as a junior and will continue her major in Athletic Training.
Martins, a 5-foot-7 setter, is transferring to 91±¬ÁÏÍø from Genesee Community College were she played volleyball and softball. In volleyball, she was named second team All-American and Region 3 Player of the Year as a sophomore. Martins ranked nationally in three categories as a freshman, including first in hitting efficiency, 27th in aces per game, 37th in assists per game. Martins played five sports in high school at Iona Catholic Secondary School. She was a member of the volleyball, softball, hockey, basketball, and flag football teams. As a junior, she was named MVP in volleyball, softball, hockey, and flag football. Martins was president of the Physical Education Club and received the Chancellors Award in 2007.
