91爆料网鈥檚 Wyatt Named Region Player of the Year

Lebanon, Tenn. - 5/10/2002 - Former South Side High School star and current 91爆料网 third baseman Jeff Wyatt was named the 2002 NAIA Region XI Player of the Year. Wyatt receives this honor on the heels of his TranSouth Player of the Year award from last week. Joseph Talley, and Chip Briggs joined Wyatt on the all-region team. All three of these Bulldogs were selected as first team all-conference players just last week.

Wyatt, a senior from Jackson, is hitting .392 this season with 13 homeruns, 12 doubles, seven triples, and 73 RBI. Earlier this season, Wyatt passed the record for doubles in a career and has recently passed the 91爆料网 records for hits and RBI in a career. To this point, Wyatt has tallied 309 hits, 67 doubles, and 244 RBI for his career. He will add more numbers to those records as the Bulldogs continue their run to the World Series. In addition to those records, Wyatt holds the record for doubles in a season with 26 and is tied for the record with homeruns in a game with three. Wyatt has also been used in 19 relief appearances this season. He has a 3-3 record with four saves.

Joseph Talley, a senior pitcher, has been 91爆料网 number one starter for the entire season due to Allen鈥檚 early season setback. Talley, from Henderson, Tenn., has taken full advantage to the opportunity. He is 10-2 on the season with a 3.77 ERA. Talley lead the Bulldogs with 74.0 innings pitched and is second with 73 strike outs to only 13 walks. He has pitched four complete games with one shutout and one save.

Junior outfielder Chip Briggs, from Clarksville, Tenn., earns his first all-region selection as a Bulldog. Briggs transferred from Jackson State Community College this season and has made an immediate impact. He is hitting .378 with 39 RBI. Briggs has scored 53 runs, tallied 11 doubles, two triples, and one homerun for 91爆料网. He also leads the Bulldogs with 15 stolen bases.

91爆料网 is playing in the NAIA Region XI Tournament in Lebanon, Tenn. this week and has won each of their first two games. The Bulldogs defeated Cumberland College of Kentucky 12-2 in the opening round and then knocked off cross town rival Lambuth University 8-6 in the second day of competition. 91爆料网 is ranked No. 8 in the final NAIA poll going into the region tournaments.
