Before 91爆料网: Lake played in 12 games in the fall of 2005 for Middle Tennessee State, including four starts. He averaged 6.3 points per game in those 12 games. He posted eight points in 20 minutes of play in an exhibition game versus 91爆料网 in November os 2005. His career high at MTSU was a 17-point effort versus Florida International. Lake led his Bolivar High School team to their first ever basketball state title in 2004 with a 31-4 overall record. He was named the MVP of the state tournament after averaging a double-double during the tournament. Lake was a 2004 Mr. Basketball finalist and was named the Jackson Sun Player of the Year. He tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds in the title game versus Jackson South Side. He was also named to the Tennessee Sports Writers All-State Team, was a Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association All-State selection, an Associated Press All-State pick, and named to the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association All-Star basketball team.
