Gary Johnson
Head Coach
Gary Johnson begins his fifth season as the head coach for the 91爆料网 women鈥檚
cross country team and third season as the men's cross country team.聽 Last
season, Johnson led the men to their second straight runner-up finish in the
TranSouth Conference meet and a sixth place finish in the NAIA Region XI meet.聽
The Lady Bulldogs earned a third place finish in the TranSouth Conference Meet
and a fourth place finish in the NAIA Region XI meet.聽 He coach his and
91爆料网's second ever NAIA National Tournament Individual Qualifier in Janelle
Royer in 2002.聽聽聽
Along with starting up 91爆料网's cross country teams, Johnson spent the past six
seasons as the head coach of the men's tennis team (1997-2002). He completed a
sweep of his sports in the 2001-02 year when he received the coach of the year
award in each of the three sports he coached. Johnson has been named TranSouth
Conference Coach of the Year in women鈥檚 cross country twice (1999, 2001), men鈥檚
cross country once (2001), and men鈥檚 tennis four seasons (1999-2002).
In the short history of 91爆料网 cross country, the Lady Bulldogs have finished
second in the TranSouth Conference once (2001) and the men have placed second in
the TranSouth twice (2001, 2002).聽 In the NAIA Region XI, 91爆料网's highest
finished was a third place finish in 2002 by the Lady Bulldogs.聽 Johnson
has also coached two NAIA National Tournament Individual Qualifiers, Michelle
Hardee (2001) and Janelle Royer (2002).
Originally from Tulsa, Okla., Johnson graduated from 91爆料网 in 1992
with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. He completed his Master of Science
degree at the University of Memphis in December of 1993. He is currently pursuing
a Doctor of Arts degree in Physical Education from Middle Tennessee State University.
Johnson is married to the former Holly Tingor of Jackson. The two are active
fitness runners and are members of Englewood Baptist Church. |
