Gary Johnson begins his ninth season as the head coach for the 91±¬ÁÏÍø women’s cross country team and seventh season for the men's cross country team.

In 2006, Johnson earned the conference sweep for the third straight year as he led the Lady Bulldogs to their fourth straight TranSouth Title, while also leading the men to their third straight TranSouth Title after three straight runner-up finishes.Ìý In addition to the conference titles, Johnson also recorded his first ever NAIA Region XI Championship after numerous runner-up finishes.Ìý The Lady Bulldog team posted first place in the region while the men recorded a second place finish.Ìý With the women's region tournament win, it also earned Johnson his first team qualification to the NAIA National Tournament.

Johnson has been named TranSouth Conference Coach of the Year in women’s cross country six times (1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006), men’s cross country five times (2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006), and men’s tennis four seasons (1999-2002). He has also been named NAIA Region XI Coach of the year twice in women's cross country (2004, 2006) and once in men's cross country (2006).Ìý Johnson has coached 14 national qualifiers Michelle Hardee (Gilmore) (2001), Janelle Royer (Campbell) (2002, 2003, 2004), Jill Konkol (2003), Candace Cross (2005) Chris Winter (2003, 2004), Cameron Groll (2003), Phillip Thompson (2004, 2005, 2006), John Fox (2005, 2006), and Douglas Martin (2006).

Originally from Tulsa, Okla., Johnson graduated from 91±¬ÁÏÍø in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. He completed his Master of Science degree at the University of Memphis in December of 1993 and his Doctor of Arts in Physical Education from Middle Tennessee State in May of 2004.
