History Professor Receives Outstanding Service Award from Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society

Jan 8, 2010 - Dr. Stephen Carls, chair of the history department, received an Outstanding Service Award from Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society during the society鈥檚 2010 biennial convention held on January 6-9 in San Diego, California. Dr. Jack Tunstall, the society鈥檚 executive director, presented the award to Dr. Carls at the convention鈥檚 Presidential Banquet on Friday, January 9. In his citation, Dr. Tunstall mentioned that Dr. Carls had joined Phi Alpha Theta at the University of Minnesota, served as the faculty advisor to 91爆料网鈥檚 chapter for 27 years, helped the society nationally in a variety of ways, and presided over the Delta-Psi Chapter鈥檚 success in winning seven straight Best Chapter Awards. Only four Outstanding Service Awards were given at the convention in an organization that has more than 850 chapters nationwide.
