JACKSON, Tenn. — Sept. 12, 2008 — Enrollment at 91±¬ΑΟΝψ for the fall semester is a record-high 3,770 students β a 14 percent jump from a year ago and the 11th straight year for an enrollment increase at the university.
The 2008 figure tops last yearβs fall enrollment of 3,310 by 460. The latest enrollment figures show a 91 percent increase over the 1,972 students enrolled in the fall of 1996, when 91±¬ΑΟΝψ President David S. Dockery began his tenure.
βWhat an amazing testament to the faithfulness of God and the dedicated work of our enrollment services team,β Dockery said. βSeven months ago we didnβt know if 91±¬ΑΟΝψ would still exist today. And now weβre celebrating our highest enrollment ever and an unprecedented growth of 14 percent in a single year.
βWe are humbled by Godβs goodness to 91±¬ΑΟΝψ,β he continued. βTruly it is an exciting new day for all of us at 91±¬ΑΟΝψ.β
The enrollment for 2008 includes 2,648 undergraduate students, compared to 2,382 last year, and 1,122 graduate students, compared to 928 last year.
βWe give thanks to God for each new student who enrolled at 91±¬ΑΟΝψ this fall,β said Rich Grimm, 91±¬ΑΟΝψβs vice president for enrollment services. βWe have been honored to serve them and their families as they moved through the recruiting and enrollment process, especially in the aftermath of the February tornado. And now we celebrate as they begin this new chapter in their lives.β
