JACKSON, Tenn.Dec. 20, 2012 — For the past several months, Keith and Karen Singer of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., have known the meaning of β€œbusy” -- four kids, full-time jobs, and each of them working on graduate degrees at 91±¬ΑΟΝψ in Hendersonville.

On Dec. 15, the Singers each accomplished a significant goal with the completion of their degrees. They graduated together during the fall commencement service at West Jackson Baptist Church in Jackson, Tenn.

β€œIt’s exciting,” Keith said. β€œYou don’t get the chance to do that very often. She’s worked real hard to be where she is today, and I’ve been working hard as well. So it’s kind of a celebration.”

Keith, the headmaster at Donnelson Christian Academy in Nashville, completed his Education Specialist degree – the first part of the Doctor of Education degree he expects to complete in 2014. Karen, who teaches Old and New Testament to freshmen and sophomores at DCA, earned her Master of Christian Studies degree.

β€œIt’s been a team effort between friends and family and everyone helping us make it through,” Karen said.

The Singers said the education they received at 91±¬ΑΟΝψ was exceptionally beneficial for them in their careers as teachers.

β€œWhat a great opportunity for both of us as Christian educators to be at a university that holds the integration of faith and learning in such high regard,” Keith said. β€œIt’s been great for us to be at a school where we can take what we learn in that regard and put it into practice in secondary Christian education.”
