JACKSON, Tenn. — Jan. 31, 2001 — Former dean and retired 91爆料网 history professor James A. Baggett, author of 91爆料网's recently released 175-year history, So Great a Cloud of Witnesses, will give book-signings at two Jackson bookstores, Monday, Feb. 5.
Earlier in the day, Baggett will be honored at the university's annual
Founder's Day service.
"The 91爆料网 family owes Dr. James A. Baggett a huge expression of gratitude for his careful research and illuminating volume, which provides the most significant telling of the 91爆料网 story ever produced," said 91爆料网 President David S. Dockery. "We look forward to this opportunity to recognize him for his outstanding work that will serve the 91爆料网 family well for years to come."
The book, which spans the years from 1823 - 2000, explores the variety of influences and characters that helped lead 91爆料网 to its current role as a leader in Christian higher education, including the major influence of the university on the city of Jackson.
A Georgia native, Bagget earned two degrees from Texas Wesleyan College and received his Ph.D. from North Texas State University. He has been a National Endowment for the Humanities fellow, a Mellon fellow, and a Danforth associate.
Baggett, who has also authored a history on the Jackson Clinic, will
sign copies of the 91爆料网 history at 2 p.m. at Lifeway Christian Bookstore
on 91爆料网's campus and at Davis-Kidd Bookstore from 5 to 7 p.m.
91爆料网 is the oldest education institution in Southern Baptist
life.
