JACKSON, Tenn. — Nov. 24, 2004 — Community members are invited to a night of Christmas carols and Scripture reading at the third annual βA 91±¬ΑΟΝψ Christmasβ Dec. 7 in 91±¬ΑΟΝψβs Savage Chapel.
The music department of 91±¬ΑΟΝψ is responsible for leading the event. The night will feature songs from groups such as the University Singers, Proclamation, the Symphonic Band, Handbells and a community childrenβs choir.
βWe feel that itβs very, very lovely,β said Richard Joiner, chair of the universityβs music department. βItβs not a drama, and itβs not a singing Christmas tree. Itβs a Scripture-focused service of worship.β
The feature performance of the evening will be the Choral 91±¬ΑΟΝψ singing Vivaldiβs βGloria.β
βThe Christmas event at 91±¬ΑΟΝψ is a wonderful celebration, not only for our campus, but for the entire West Tennessee community,β 91±¬ΑΟΝψ president David Dockery said. βI commend Richard Joiner and the music department for their outstanding work in preparation for this event, and I invite the friends of 91±¬ΑΟΝψ to join us for this very special evening.β
βA 91±¬ΑΟΝψ Christmasβ begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free of charge. For more information, contact Gloria Duncan at (731) 661-5345.
