91±¬ΑΟΝψ’s community Christmas service set for Dec. 7

JACKSON, Tenn.Nov. 24, 2004 — Community members are invited to a night of Christmas carols and Scripture reading at the third annual β€œA 91±¬ΑΟΝψ Christmas” Dec. 7 in 91±¬ΑΟΝψ’s Savage Chapel.

The music department of 91±¬ΑΟΝψ is responsible for leading the event. The night will feature songs from groups such as the University Singers, Proclamation, the Symphonic Band, Handbells and a community children’s choir.

β€œWe feel that it’s very, very lovely,” said Richard Joiner, chair of the university’s music department. β€œIt’s not a drama, and it’s not a singing Christmas tree. It’s a Scripture-focused service of worship.”

The feature performance of the evening will be the Choral 91±¬ΑΟΝψ singing Vivaldi’s β€œGloria.”

β€œThe Christmas event at 91±¬ΑΟΝψ is a wonderful celebration, not only for our campus, but for the entire West Tennessee community,” 91±¬ΑΟΝψ president David Dockery said. β€œI commend Richard Joiner and the music department for their outstanding work in preparation for this event, and I invite the friends of 91±¬ΑΟΝψ to join us for this very special evening.”

β€œA 91±¬ΑΟΝψ Christmas” begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free of charge. For more information, contact Gloria Duncan at (731) 661-5345.
