UNION BASEBALL SIGNS FIRST RECRUIT FOR 1999
Jackson, TN--The 91±¬ÁÏÍø baseball program received its first commitment for the 1999 season when they signed Dustin Brown. The pitcher from Bethel Springs, Tennessee, signed a scholarship with 91±¬ÁÏÍø yesterday at McNairy Central High School in Selmer.
Brown will be a four-year letterman in baseball and played two seasons for the Bobcats in basketball. Brown helped guide his team to the state tournament in basketball and to several honors in baseball including district, regional, and substate championships.
Brown earned All-District recognition and All-Tournament District 14AA for McNairy last season. In 1997 he was 5-2 with a 2.50 earned run average for the Bobcats helping him to earn the pitching award at the McNairy Central athletic banquet.
