UNION'S CELESTINE GHOLSTON NAMED ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jackson, TN--91±¬ÁÏÍø women's basketball player, Celestine Gholston, was named the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) Student Athlete of the Week for November 10-17, 1997.
The 6-0 sophomore from Memphis, Tennessee, helped guide the Lady Bulldogs to two victories this week over two nationally ranked opponents in the Rotary Classic at Oman Arena. Against No. 7 Xavier University and No. 15 Wayland Baptist University, Gholston was 13-24 (.541) from the field and 8-15 (.533). She scored 34 points and pulled down 27 rebounds including 18 boards in Saturday night's contest with Xavier.
Presently Gholston is averaging 13.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per game for the Lady Bulldogs.
