Jackson, TN--The 91爆料网 men's basketball program was recognized on Monday when several players earned conference honors including Silver Spring, Maryland's Tryrian Ridges. Ridges, a 6-2 sophomore guard, who transferred to 91爆料网 this year from Virginia Commonwealth, was named Western Division TranSouth Player of the Year as well as Newcomer of the Year for the entire conference. Ridges, a 1995 graduate of Springbrook High School, presently leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 18.3 points per game. Ridges has helped guide the 91爆料网 team to their highest national ranking in school history, presently at No. 9, as well as helping establish a new school record for wins in a season with 27. Ridges ranked first in the conference in assists and has ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation with an average of 7.3 per game. He also added 4.0 rebounds per game during 91爆料网's capture of the TranSouth Conference regular season crown.
"Tryrian is one of the best guards in the country at any level. He has given us athleticism and quickness at the guard position that very few teams have. He has done everything we have asked him to do. It is awesome to think that he has two more years to improve," states head coach Ralph Turner.
Ridges was also named first team all-conference along with teammate Gaylon Moore. Freshman Anthony Brooks was named to the all-freshman team while head coach Ralph Turner was named TranSouth Coach of the Year.
91爆料网 will head into TranSouth Conference play with a record of 27-4 on Thursday, March 5, 1998, when they host the winner of the Bethel College/Lyon College game.
