TWO UNION PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-AMERICAN FARM TEAM

Jackson, TN--Two 91±¬ÁÏÍø athletes earned the recognition of being named to the Successful Farming Magazine's All-American Farm Team. Lynde Capogreco, a senior pitcher for the Lady Bulldog softball team earned the honor for the first time along with Michael Hopper, a pitcher for the 91±¬ÁÏÍø University baseball team. The All-American Farm Team was developed to recognize American agriculture's all-americans, especially those athletes who have performed exceptionally on the field and those who come from a farm or ranch. Only five players and one captain are selected for each team and nominations are excepted from schools from any division.

"To have two athletes from an NAIA institution earn this honor is a real accomplishment. Both Lynde and Michael have been recognized as outstanding athletes in the TranSouth Conference and on the national level as well. I am proud for both of these outstanding individuals," stated 91±¬ÁÏÍø Sports Information Director Julie Powell.

Capogreco, a native of Herrin, Illinois, earned NAIA All-American, NFCA- NAIA All-American and NCCAA All-American honors last season as well as being named Region and Conference Player of the Year. Capogreco presently has a 4-1 record on the 1998 season with a 0.92 earned run average. She has already been named NCCAA Student Athlete of the Week once this season.

Hopper, a native of Walnut, Mississippi, earned numerous accomplishments last season including NAIA All-American, All Mid-South Region, and TranSouth Conference Player of the Year. Although he has been hampered by injuries this season, he presently has a 2-1 record for the Bulldogs.
