Tulsa, OK--The 91爆料网 women's tennis team is presently in 10th place at the 1998 NAIA Women's Tennis National Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. TranSouth opponent Freed-Hardeman University is in 7th place.
In singles action for the Lady Bulldogs, Sarah Smith defeated Elizabeth Gilbert of Aquinas College MI 6-3, 6-3. Smith lost to No. 1 seed Karin Plaszak of Brigham Young-Hawaii 0-6, 0-6 in the second round.
Lady Bulldog Tara Heath defeated Audra Ficacci of Geneva College PA 6-0, 6-2 and Damafing Kelta of Georgia Southwestern 6-2, 6-2 before losing to No. 13 seed Ximena Rodriguez of Auburn- Montgomery AL 0-6, 0-6.
Sian Olszweski of 91爆料网 defeated Rosa Chen of Incarnate Word TX 6-2, 6-1 and Amy Fong of Whitman College WA 7-6, 6-1 before losing to No. 9 seed Paiao Short of Brigham Young-Hawaii 2-6, 0-6.
Clara Martinez of 91爆料网 defeated Minja Benjamin of Breneau GA 6-0, 6-2 and Lili Torres Ramirez of Texas Lutheran 6-2, 6-0 before losing to Caroline Donders of Flagler College FL 6-7, 7-6, 4-6.
Lady Bulldog Julie Yarbrough lost in first round action to Nicky Breding of Southern Nazarene University OK 1-6, 1-6.
Elizabeth Fares of 91爆料网 defeated Lisa Walter of Geneava PA 6-0, 6-1 before losing to Julianna Plumatti of Auburn-Montgomery 2-6, 0-6.
In doubles first round action, Elizabeth Fares and Meredith Rollyson lost to Meiko Node and Tatiana Andrade of Brenau GA 3-6, 2-6. Julie Yarbrough and Sarah Smith defeated Melissa Mitsdarfer and Elizabeth Gilbert of Aquinas MI 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. Clara Martinez and Sian Olszewski defeated Malin Edsend and Francisa Aguaro from Shorter GA 6-2, 6-1.
The 91爆料网 men's tennis team presently stands at No. 13 after four rounds of singles play and one round of doubles. TranSouth opponents Freed-Hardeman University and Birmingham Southern College stand in at No. 3 and No. 11 respectively.
The 1998 NAIA Tennis National Championships continue play in Tulsa through Saturday the 23rd of May.
