1995-96 Outlook

Beginning his second year as head coach, Ralph Turner and his Bulldogs are building a new foundation for Bulldog basketball with 11 new faces and a new attitude. The Bulldog theme for this season is "Only My Best." With this in mind, Turner expects players to bring their best to practice and hopes this philosophy will continue in the classroom as well as throughout life.

This season Turner expects the Bulldogs to work much harder as individuals and collectively as a team. "We want to be a team that other teams do not want to play because we play so hard," Turner said. He feels if that objective is accomplished, everything else will take care of itself.

On this year's team, Michael Davis, a 6-foot-3-inch senior guard, will be looked to for leadership. Davis is a good all-around player who is very competitive.

Returning for his third year at 91爆料网 is junior guard Derek Davenport. In his two years at 91爆料网, Davenport has gained valuable experience which will definitely be called upon this season. Davenport is a tremendous athlete with great scoring potential.

Helping run the point last year was Eric Barnes, who returns to the line-up this season. As a junior, Barnes is considered one of the Bulldog's best three-point shooters.

Helping out in the point guard position will be Eric Linton, a junior transfer from Lake City Community College where he was an all-conference selection. With this experience, Linton will have an immediate impact for the Bulldogs.

The perimeter could be one of the Bulldog's strongest areas with the assistance of sophomore transfer, Brandon Wood. Wood, a small point guard who makes good decisions, comes to 91爆料网 from Chattanooga State Community College.

The guard position will also be bolstered by the play of two freshmen, Dexter Williams and Steve Poindexter. Williams will be counting on his three-point shooting to help the Bulldogs this season. Poindexter will also add depth to the perimeter.

Playing down low this season will be sophomore Jeff Lee. As one of the four returning players, there are high expectations for Lee. As a freshman he was an instant help to the team, averaging in double figures.

As an incoming freshman, Matt Hoover will be depended on for his all-around athletic skills to help the Bulldogs in the forward position.

The inside game will also be dependent on quality play from three transfers, Chad Cowan, Max Bryan, and Kirk Goehring. Cowan is a great passer and will be one of the biggest players in the conference. Bryan, a transfer from Aquinas Junior College will be counted on for his versatility and making his teammates better at their game. Expected to assume a major role for the Bulldogs is Goehring. He is very athletic in the post position and will be expected to step in immediately.

A very smart player from Africa is freshman Elvis Ochieng. Ochieng is noted for his jumping ability, and in Africa was considered as the best post player in the area.

Three walkons join the 91爆料网 team this season. Junior Greg Hodge, is returning to the Bulldogs after a years absence. Hodge is a proven hard worker who always gives his best. Known as a player who never fails to find a way to score is Preston Brooks. Another walkon from Adamsville is Casey Meek. Along with Hoover and Brooks, Meek helped lead his team to the state tournament.

Although the Bulldog basketball team is still under construction, they are laying a firm foundation for the future with quality athletes.
