1997-98 Coaching Staff

Dr. David Blackstock
Head Coach

Beginning his 16th season as head coach of the Lady Bulldogs, few can argue the accomplishments David Blackstock has accumulated at the realm of the women's basketball program at 91爆料网. In his 15 seasons, he has never lost more than 10 games in one season, accumulating an overall record of 443-81. Blackstock currently ranks fourth among NAIA active women's coaches with a .845 winning percentage. Only three other coaches have more victories and they all have more years in the coaching business.

Blackstock began his campaign at 91爆料网 as a baseball player in 1960 where he helped lead the Bulldogs to a national spotlight. During the span of 1965 through 1967, Blackstock continued his educational career at Memphis State University where he received his Master of Education. Leaving the Jackson area for four years, Blackstock moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he attended the University of Southern Mississippi's doctoral school. By the time Blackstock returned to 91爆料网 in 1973 as athletic director and instructor in the physical education department, there were few sports he had not coached or played.

Blackstock took over the baseball program at 91爆料网 in 1977 where he eventually guided the team to the winningest year in baseball history. In 1980 Blackstock was named the Volunteer State Conference Coach of the Year and ended the season with a 34-17 record. In 1983 the 91爆料网 baseball team accomplished what no other team has. With Blackstock at the helm, the Bulldogs placed third in the NAIA World Series.

It was at that same time that Blackstock turned his attention to the women's basketball program. Few have accomplished what he has in the arena of women's basketball. Blackstock has brought the Lady Bulldog program to heights that are unbelieveable. It is easy to take for granted what he has accomplished. The program has set such a standard that sometimes it becomes expected instead of appreciated. 91爆料网's women's basketball program ranks number three nationally in the category of Winningest Active NAIA Women's Basketball Teams in the last five years, and ranks number six in the same category for the last 10 years.

During Blackstock's campaign, he has been to the NAIA District 24 Finals 11 times, capturing five district crowns. He has 10 conference championships, the most recent coming last season when the Lady Bulldogs held off Freed-Hardeman University to capture the inagural TranSouth title. He has guided the team to eight national tournament berths in the last 10 years, twice to the championship game. In the 11 years the TCAC existed, 91爆料网 captured eight conference titles and Blackstock compiled a 165-19 TCAC career record.

Anna Richardson
Graduate Assistant Coach

A familiar face will be joining the coaching staff this year. Anna Richardson rejoins the Lady Bulldogs but in a different role than in the past. The former Lady Bulldog will fill in for assistant coach Lisa Hutchens, who is taking a leave of absence to work on her doctorate degree. Richardson played her collegiate career at 91爆料网 from 1992-96 and was a member of the Lady Bulldog's 1992- 93 NAIA national runner-up team. For those who did not have the opportunity to be thrilled by Anna's playing career, she may look familiar for her role as commentator for Lady Bulldog basketball games.

Richardson was instrumental to the Lady Bulldog's success during her career. She presently holds the record for most career three-point field goals with 309. During her four-year career at 91爆料网, Richardson averaged 10.3 points per game, compiled 430 assists and 758 rebounds.

Richardson received a Bachelor of Science in Business Admnistration in management/marketing 1997 and spent the 1996-97 school year in the admissions department here at 91爆料网. She is currently working towards completion of requirements for a teacher's license in physical education.

Heather Campbell
Graduate Assistant

Many may find the face of Heather Campbell a familiar one as well. Campbell will be joining the Lady Bulldog coaching staff after spending her collegiate basketball career at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas. Like 91爆料网, Arkansas Tech has a well deserved reputation for outstanding women's basketball which will help Campbell in making the transition from player to coach.

While playing for the Golden Suns, Campbell helped guide Arkansas Tech to four conference titles and four national tournament appearances. From the time Campbell took the floor her freshman season, she managed to accumulate the honors. She has been named to the all-conference team and the NAIA National Championship All-Tournament team twice. Campbell was instrumental in the Golden Suns Final Four finish in 1995 and earned NAIA All-American status while averaging over 20 points and 6 rebounds in her final season at Tech.

Campbell will also be working towards completing a degree in physical education.
