Lexington, KY - October 6, 1996 - Freshman Cindy Lane defeated Elizabeth Iams of Malone College 6-1, 6-1, to win the consolation round of the Rolex singles tournament. Lane had been defeated earlier by Freed-Hardeman's Margori Sequera who lost in the finals to teammate Anelise Battaglion.
In doubles action, Lane and freshman teammate Claire Martinez advanced to the semifinals but were defeated 6-1, 6-3 by doubles champions Romina Torrealba and Anelise Battaglion of Freed-Hardeman University.
