Brent Fronabarger begins his seventh season as the head coach of the 91±¬ÁÏÍø University Baseball program after serving eight seasons (1996-2005) as the assistant coach. Fronabarger is coming off three straight appearances in the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round and a second TranSouth Tournament Title in the past three seasons.
Fronabarger has a career record of 208-115-1 (.644). On April 15, 2010, Fronabarger recorded his 200th career win at Mid-Continent (Ky.). He notched his 100th career victory on February 27, 2009 versus Huntington (Ind.).
In 2010, Fronabarger led 91±¬ÁÏÍø to 42 wins, the first time as a head coach to reach the 40-win mark. 91±¬ÁÏÍø posted runner-up finishes in the regular season and conference tournament. Fronabarger also posted a milestone 2009 season as he led the team to the TranSouth Tournament Title and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round. It was the first for both in his young career.
Fronabarger received a Bachelor of Science in physical education and health from 91±¬ÁÏÍø in 1996 and received a Master of Education degree from 91±¬ÁÏÍø in 1998. He spent his days as the assistant coach working mostly with the pitchers. Fronabarger was named the AFLAC Assistant Coach of the Year in 2003 selected by Scholastic's Coach and Athletic Director Magazine.
Fronabarger has accumulated a 170-98-1 (.634) overall record in his five seasons.
In 2006, Fronabarger's first year as head coach, he led the 91±¬ÁÏÍø Bulldogs to the NAIA Region XI Tournament, the teams first appearance since the 2002 season. Fronabarger has reached the 30-win mark four times and 40 wins once in his six seasons at 91±¬ÁÏÍø.
After graduating from 91±¬ÁÏÍø in 1995, Fronabarger returned to his hometown where he helped coach the Huntingdon (Tenn.) High School Mustangs in both football and baseball during the 1996-97 seasons. In 1997, he was hired by 91±¬ÁÏÍø as the assistant baseball coach and head of grounds. During his eight seasons as an assistant coach, 91±¬ÁÏÍø baseball posted a win-loss record of 293-146 (.667) with two conference championships and three Region XI Tournament Appearances. The teams boasted three seasons with 40 or more wins.
Fronabarger, the 1995 Tennessee Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, holds several 91±¬ÁÏÍø pitching records including Most Victories in a Season (13), Most Victories in a Career (33), Most Strikeouts in a Career (306), and Most Innings in a Season (117.2). In 1995, Fronabarger led the team with the lowest earned run average (1.97) and had an incredible 11-2 record. Fronabarger was drafted out of high school by the Toronto Blue Jays.
In addition to his head coaching duties at 91±¬ÁÏÍø, Fronabarger teaches in the Physical Education, Wellness, and Sport department.
He and his wife Sandy have two sons, Brady and Landry.
Justin Hogan begins his first season as assistant baseball coach at 91±¬ÁÏÍø (Tenn.) University. Hogan comes to 91±¬ÁÏÍø after spending the last three seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville.
Hogan played college baseball at Southern Polytechnic (Ga.) State University where he helped his team to the conference tournament title in 2004. He began his baseball playing career at Hiwassee (Tenn.) Community College.
Hogan, a native of Pike County, Ga., finished his undergraduate degree in business administration from Georgia Southwestern State University in 2006. He added a masters degree in sports management in 2010 from the United State Sports Academy.
Hogan and his wife Anna reside in Jackson where she works as a nurse.
